The Magic Formula Personal Development Programme for Children aged 7-11-years-old

The Magic Formula Personal Development Programme for children aged 7-11-years-old is launching in September 2023! As a parent, I know how important it is to provide your child with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges.

As a former primary school teacher and author of 10 rhyming tales for children, I’ve developed a transformational program that specifically engages children’s imaginations and helps them build a strong and healthy sense of self. As a parent and former teacher, I’ve seen many children struggle with low self-esteem, anxiety, and difficulty managing their emotions.

If your child is experiencing any of these challenges, without support this can lead to negative impacts on their mental health, academic performance, and overall well-being. With six of my stories at the heart of The Magic Formula, I share with children how to unlock the key to their own self-empowerment. Your child will learn invaluable skills like meditation, visualisation, and emotional regulation and build strong and positive relationships with others.

With six video-based modules, and three lessons in each module, and printable study guides and booklets for both parents and children, your child will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. They will learn strategies for managing difficult emotions and situations. These tools will set them up to navigate their way through life’s challenges and help them to thrive.

I have a wealth of experience planning, developing, and delivering programs and schemes across the primary phase with a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in English and Education, plus a Post Graduate Degree in Primary Education. I have 11 years’ experience teaching children in Primary Education.

Over the last five and a half years, I’ve visited hundreds of schools across the West Midlands in England to develop children’s love for stories, for reading and writing. I’m deeply passionate about teaching children and families the importance of self-development and how to unlock the power within themselves.

As a parent, you want to provide your child with the best opportunities to thrive and succeed, and The Magic Formula can do just that. The course is launching September 2023. By signing up for the mailing list, you’ll be the first to receive exclusive updates on the launch of the course.

Hannah Bradshaw, Year 6 Teacher, Reading Lead, Hadley Learning Community, Primary Phase

We have been so lucky to welcome Sarah Griffiths into our school on multiple occasions, to share her stories and deliver workshops to the children. Sarah’s calm, approachable demeanour is perfect for telling her stories that carry important messages, in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner.

Through sharing texts such as ‘Jack and the Genie’, as well as ‘The Lost Voices’, Sarah has enabled staff and children to reflect on both their emotional/mental health and their physical well-being. This has been a wonderful talking point, opening up conversations that may previously have felt difficult to address. Having the opportunity to compare to relatable characters in the text means that the children are given a bank of vocabulary and identified emotions that they can refer to if they are experiencing similar feelings.

Teaching for 10 years and now having my own little boy, I can see first-hand the hugely positive impact of supporting children through developmental milestones, via the magic of stories and reading. For children to see their emotions validated and recognised in print is extremely powerful and a tool that we never underestimate as a school. Sarah’s stories are an open door into exploring feelings and emotions whilst providing strategies and tools to utilise when the time is needed. For children reading these stories, this often happens without realisation, but we know that they are better equipped in their emotional toolkit to deal with situations in the future, should they arise. We also love the idea of books raising ambitions and self-esteem, something Tom’s Gift does perfectly. We believe in our children and their abilities; stories help the child to believe in themselves too.

Sarah is a truly inspirational writer; her stories focus on themes that children really engage with and need support to be able to understand and navigate. Sarah’s stories always promote lots of discussion between my daughter, Jessica and I.

I love how Jessica’s interpretation of the characters is sometimes different to how I have read the book. This communication between parent and child really is so key to children of all ages. It is especially important when children are really finding themselves and developing skills that will support them into the next stage of learning and beyond.

Karen Tearle, Deputy Head Teacher, Albrighton Primary School and Nursery

Sarah really understands how to support children’ s well-being through her stories, which contain very relatable characters and situations. All her stories help children to explore different values, emotions, and relationships that children will need support with. Over the last few years, both as a teacher and deputy headteacher, I have shared Sarah’s stories with children who have thoroughly enjoyed them. Sharing these stories has given me the opportunity to help children to explore their own feelings, emotions and relationships with others.

Sarah’s personal development programme has been carefully thought out to ensure that children are gaining the knowledge and skills to support their own mental health and wellbeing in a fun and exciting way. Developing a growth mindset will help set children up to be lifelong learners and problem solvers, developing the resilience and good self-esteem that is needed in all aspects of a child’s life.

I especially love to read ‘Jack and the Genie,’ as a bedtime story to my three children. We love to make up our own stories, using the ideas in Sarah’s book to spark my children’s imaginations. Sarah’s stories are both engaging and fun, they are wonderful to share before dropping off to sleep.

Emily Guess, Deputy Headteacher, Ladygrove Primary School and Nursery

As we have grown as a school here at Ladygrove Primary School and Nursery, it has become more and more apparent for the need to access resources which support children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.  Sarah has been on this journey with us.  From holding focused workshops on gratitude and building a positive mindset, to sharing books with a strong message to encourage self-belief, Sarah has been a powerful resource for both children and staff.  As a result of past workshops and stories in assemblies, staff often use gratitude diaries and messages of affirmation, as well as other techniques gained from Sarah’s valuable input.
