The Story behind ‘Hayley’s Ribbon’:
Hayley Raso plays for the Australian Women’s National Football Team and she is a winger for Manchester City in the FA Women’s Super League. I have collaborated with Hayley to share her inspirational story.
Hayley faced many challenges; she was very shy, she moved to a new town, moved house and moved to a new school. Hayley and her Nan have always had a wonderful bond. As Hayley grew up, her Nan’s wish was that Hayley could see the amazing person that she sees, within her grandchild. Hayley’s Nan gave her a ribbon to wear in her hair, so that when she played football and whenever she wore it, Hayley felt like her family were with her. This helped build her self-esteem and the strong confident woman we see today.
Hayley’s mum has always had a positive approach to life. She is her strength and has always supported and guided Hayley through tough times. Her mum is her role model and someone that Hayley strives to be like every day. Hayley wanted to share her story so that young children can draw strength from her experiences. Hayley wants to give back to young children by sharing this book with the world. Half of the proceeds will go to HeartKids, an organisation very close to her heart. Hayley’s older brother suffers with congenital heart disease. Hayley wants to support children and families that are going through what she went through as a young child by sharing her story.
