Author Visits and Storytelling

My author visits are a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the world of rhyme and storytelling. I enjoy performing at whole school assemblies or in smaller group sessions.

I take children on an interactive adventure, bringing my stories to life and awakening children’s imaginations. I talk about my exciting journey of how I became a children's author. I also talk through the process of writing my story ideas and how the ideas are developed, edited, illustrated and printed into a published book. I then answer any questions the children would like to ask.

The cost is £150.00 for two 45 minute sessions with Reception/Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

As an experienced teacher it is wonderful to combine my love of writing with teaching through the workshops I have to offer. I teach creative writing, story writing, poetry, well-being and creative craft workshops. These are the perfect follow up activities after an author visit.

“The children loved every minute! It was lovely to see their imaginations oozing with ideas. You are an inspirational visitor for both children and teachers.”

(Miss Mullinder, KS1 Teacher from St Andrew’s C of E Primary School, Shifnal.)

Sarah’s stories always capture the children’s imagination!  The rhyming of the words in her stories draw the children in and they are hooked from the beginning to the end.  Hayley’s Ribbon is another great tale with a strong message of perseverance, overcoming fears and determination.

(Miss Emily Guess, Deputy Headteacher, Ladygrove Primary School, Telford.)

It is such a privilege to be able to be invited into schools to inspire children with my stories. I am very passionate about developing children's confidence to read and write and spark an enjoyment that lasts a lifetime. I have had the most wonderful time meeting children, staff and parents during my visits.

My special message as an author is "To immerse children in the wonderful world of rhyming stories and support them to become strong readers and writers of the future!"

"My aim is to instil a love of rhyme and stories in children’s daily lives and help them to develop a rich range of language."

I teach children how to build self-esteem, reach for their dreams and how to take control of their thoughts and emotions. My stories offer the opportunity for children to share important life skills, at a level they can understand, connect and engage with.

Here are three valuable reasons why it is important for children to experience my unique author visits:

  1. Key literacy skills are developed through stories and workshops that activate imagination, promote creativity and allow children to demonstrate their unique abilities and performance in writing with confidence.
  2. Stories are brought to life with special props to excite children’s imaginations, enhance motivation, empower and encourage children to become strong readers and writers of the future.
  3. Stories are shared with an important message, supporting children's emotional health, offering daily practices and supporting their happiness now and for their future. Children learn about their own unique magnificence and sharing their gifts with the world.
